Yorvit Torrealba continues driving in runners at a torrid pace. His bases-loaded double in the first inning put the Rockies in front 2-0. Torrealba had just 14 RBIs from April through the end of August. He drove in 15 runs in September alone.

Hot CarGo.

Carlos Gonzalez, who went 8-for-21 on the last homestand, stayed hot in Los Angeles, going 2-for-5 and hiking his average to .287. In his last six games, he’s 9-for-23 (.409) with two doubles, a triple and a homer, all from the leadoff spot.

Thrown out.

The Rockies have prided themselves on pushing the envelope on the bases, but the fourth inning wasn’t their finest moment. Clint Barmes attempted to score from second on a single by Gonzalez, but a perfect throw from right fielder Andre Ethier erased Barmes at the plate. Gonzalez was thrown out at third on a chopper to shortstop Rafael Furcal. Had Gonzalez slid, he might have been safe, but he came into the third standing up.
