A Denver City Council committee is slated to review today an application by Vestas Nacellus America, a subsidiary of the Danish wind-turbine manufacturer, to expand its foreign-trade-zone operation. The foreign-trade- zone designation will allow Vestas to better manage the importing of components and enable the company to defer import duties or avoid them if the merchandise is exported.

Vestas has facilities in Windsor, Brighton, Denver and Pueblo. The company declined to comment on its application. Vestas needs a supporting resolution from the full council as part of its application to the Department of Commerce’s Foreign Free Trade Zones Board.
