Grocers King Soopers and Safeway had no response Wednesday to a request for more negotiations from United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7.
Union members this week rejected a contract offer from the stores that would have cut pension benefits while offering raises to journeymen but not to less-experienced workers.
Local 7 members have authorized a strike but said they would prefer to find middle ground with the grocers in new talks.
