PUEBLO, Colo.—A man suspected of trying to blow up the home of a Pueblo police officer scheduled to testify against him might face an attempted murder charge.

The Pueblo County sheriff’s office Friday recommended that 47-year-old Robert Howard Bruce be charged with attempted first-degree murder, intimidation of a witness, possession of an incendiary device and third-degree criminal trespass.

The charges will be referred to the district attorney. Bruce was being held in jail on $250,000 bond.

Bruce was arrested Tuesday after the officer noticed a propane tank in his driveway that was rigged to pump gas into his home. The officer was scheduled to testify against Bruce on unlawful sexual contact-peeping Tom and second-degree trespassing charges.
