Richard Glen Strandlof, a man who posed as a wounded Marine captain to found a Colorado veterans group and campaign for political candidates, was arrested Friday in downtown San Diego.

Strandlof, 32, was wanted on an outstanding federal warrant in Colorado for false claims about receipt of military decorations or medals, or violation of the Stolen Valor Act.

The FBI in San Diego arrested Strandlof without incident. He is facing up to a year in prison and a $100,000 fine if convicted of the charge.

Strandlof used the alias Rick Duncan when he was acting as a spokesman for veterans issues.
