From “La Bamba” to “La Vida Loca,” from mambo to Reggaeton, Latin music is “as diverse as the Latino experience, as American as it gets,” a new documentary observes. “Latin Music USA” is a rich four-hour effort debuting over two Mondays, Oct. 12 and 19, from 8 to 10 p.m. on KRMA-Channel 6.

The film is narrated by Jimmy Smits and includes artists from Machito to Santana to Gloria Estefan. The vintage Afro-Cuban clips are stunning. The series also will air on the Spanish-language V-Me on Oct. 13 and 20.
