DANCE

3 ways to step out

This is the season when Front Range dance studios begin filling up with youngsters eager to learn their first ballet, jazz and hip-hop steps. But the dance world can be intimidating to newcomers, so a test drive is always welcome.

Mountain Kids Dance and Gymnastics is donating two free classes of your — or your child’s — choice in conjunction with the Nov. 20 “Lord of the Dance” performance at the Budweiser Events Center. Bring in two tickets from the show to set up your classes at either Mountain Kids locations: Louisville or Fort Collins. Call 303-665-8287 or visit for more information.

Boulder-based aerial dance studio Frequent Flyers also announced the opening of its school, including a special offer of two weeks of $5 sampler classes and demonstrations by company members each weekday beginning Jan. 11. Visit for more information.

Already a dancer? Stop by the Career Transition For Dancers workshop on Nov. 14 at Denver’s Living Arts Centre (231 S. Platte River Drive). The free event from the national nonprofit is designed to help current and former dancers find grants and scholarships — or ease the transition into other careers. Visit for more information.
