The Colorado State men’s golf team won its third consecutive Del Walker Intercollegiate at the Virginia Country Club in Long Beach, Calif.
In their final tournament of the fall season, the Rams finished 20-under-par and nine strokes ahead of second-place Long Beach State with a three-round total of 1,030.
Senior Riley Arp was edged in the third round by Long Beach State’s Michael Drake, who finished two strokes ahead of Arp to win the individual title. Arp finished tied for second with a 201. It was his fourth top-10 finish of the season.
Arp’s teammates Bryce Hanstad and Dustin Morris also placed in the top 10, tying for sixth and 10th, respectively.
Sweat leads Tigers over Tech.
Bill Sweatt had a goal and three assists and Joe Howe made 28 saves as Colorado College beat Michigan Tech 4-1 in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
Colorado College improved to 19-0 against Michigan Tech in regular-season games at Colorado Springs World Arena.
Sweatt notched his third goal of the season on the power play at 9:22 of the first period. He assisted on Rylan Schwartz’s power-play goal in the second and on Ryan Lowery’s power-play goal and William Rapuzzi’s empty-net goal in the third.
Malcolm Gwilliam had the Huskies’ only goal at 12:25 of the second period.
• Tim Kirby scored with 1:45 remaining to give Air Force, which scored four goals in the second period, a 5-4 win over RIT at Cadet Ice Arena.
Brad Sellers, Matt Fairchild, Danny Durham and Stephen Carew all scored for Air Force in the second period, in which the Falcons outshot RIT 21-11.
RIT’s Andrew Favot tied the game early in the third period, setting up Kirby’s late-game heroics. Kirby had the puck behind the net, came out front and stuffed it in.
Life of Riley works for Eagles.
Riley Nelson scored two goals and Mike Mole made 27 saves to lead the Colorado Eagles over Missouri 6-2 at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland.
In his first start in goal, Mole kept the Mavericks scoreless in the first period and allowed only two goals on 29 shots.
Mines’ Mitchell beats T-wolves by herself.
Kayla Mitchell scored all four goals, leading the Colorado Mines women’s soccer team to a 4-0 win over CSU-Pueblo in Golden.
It was the 12th shutout win of the season for the Orediggers and their seventh shutout in the last eight games.
Mitchell’s four-goal game set Mines’ single-game records for both goals and points (8). The hat trick was her fifth this year. Goaltender Briana Schulze earned her sixth shutout with six saves.
Thunderwolves men dominate Mountain Lions.
The Colorado State-Pueblo men’s soccer team defeated Colorado Christian 5-1 in Pueblo.
Sam Henritze scored his first career hat trick to lead the Thunderwolves.
