Mountain View grounded out another win Friday night. Class 3A’s top-ranked Mountain Lions outgained the visiting Windsor Wizards 283-55 on the ground and scored touchdowns late in each half for a 21-7 win to clinch the Tri-Valley League.
Mountain View (8-0, 6-0), which beat Berthoud 7-6 last week, held Windsor’s Connor Glenn to 53 yards rushing on 19 carries. Glenn entered the game with 1,077 yards, the second-best in 3A. Steve Ryan (59 yards), Adam Raberge (73) and Brennan Stine (87) each had a rushing touchdown for the Mountain Lions.
Loveland 28, Broomfield 7:
The Indians, ranked No. 8 in 4A, took a big step toward clinching second place in the Northern League behind top-ranked Greeley West. Loveland (6-2, 6-1) stifled Broomfield QB Aric Kaiser (2-of-14 passing for 24 yards) though he did score on a 21-yard run.
Poudre 42, Legacy 32:
The Impalas earned their second win of the season in a wild one as Mason Biggi caught three of the TDs thrown by quarterback M Dick. Legacy’s Bradlie Koch threw for 283 yards and three TDs.
Idalia 40, Otis 14:
The Wolves’ top-ranked standing in 6-man received no legitimate threat from the No. 4 Bulldogs, who faded in the second half. Idalia led 24-16 at the break, then got third-quarter TD runs from Tyler Wade and Adam Marostica.
Highlands Ranch 13, Doherty 12:
Jared Gomes kicked his second field goal, a 40-yarder with 40 seconds left, and the Falcons (6-2, 5-2) remained in a four-way tie for second in the Southern League. Zach Donohoe gave Doherty a 12-0 lead with a 5-yard TD run in the fourth quarter but the extra-point attempt was no good.
Valor Christian 21, Elizabeth 14:
The Eagles improved to 8-0 after a tight one on the Cardinals’ home turf, getting two TDs from Brock Berglund. Elizabeth cut the deficit to seven with 2:48 remaining on 71-yard TD strike from Dalton Taylor to Sean Dorrance but the Eagles hung on.
