A Jefferson County grand jury today indicted three people on charges they stole $10,000 from the Golden Applewood Midget Football Association.
William Edward Hilborne, 45, his wife, Kelli Marie Hilborne, 41, and Cheryl Wyckoff, 37, face charges of felony theft and conspiracy.
They managed bilked money from fees paid by parents for their children to participate in the youth football program, according to a statement from the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office.
The three were officers on the association’s board from January 2006 to October 2007.
Prosecutors believe William and Kelli Hilborne withdrew cash from the league’s bank account, wrote checks and used a debit card for personal expenses.
Wyckoff was the association’s treasurer at the time.
The Hilbornes were arrested today in Delta. Kellie Hilborne is free on $5,000 bond, as her husband remains in custody. Wyckoff was not arrested but received a summons, according to the District Attorney’s office.
