BOULDER, Colo.—The Colorado Buffaloes will be without guard Shannon Sharpe for the season after he injured his left knee in a preseason workout.
The team said Wednesday that the freshman from Corona, Calif., will undergo microfracture surgery next week.
Sharpe didn’t play high school hoops last season, spending a prep year at Laurinburg Institute in North Carolina.
In 2007-08, Sharpe helped Centennial (Calif.) High School to a 27-5 record as he averaged 17.9 points and 7.7 assists a game.
The Buffaloes open the regular season on Nov. 13 by hosting Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
