Passenger traffic was flat in September at Denver International Airport, although officials said Wednesday it was the second-busiest September.
Market share at the airport continued to shift as carriers altered their capacity. United Airlines’ DIA domestic market share of revenue passengers declined to 30.90 percent in September from 35.99 percent a year earlier.
Frontier’s share dropped to 20.36 percent in September from 23.26 percent a year earlier.
Southwest’s share climbed from 10.68 percent to 15.31 percent in the same period.
A total of 4,011,123 passengers used DIA in September, down 0.2 percent from the 4,017,761 travelers in September 2008.
“We still believe that traffic is starting to rebound as the economy improves and that we will finish 2009 only slightly below last year’s record number,” aviation manager Kim Day said.
From Jan. 1 through Sept. 30, DIA served 38,335,231 passengers, down 2.5 percent from the 39,338,285 travelers during the first nine months of 2008. Ann Schrader
