At the Movies
A band of goat-whisperers
In “The Men Who Stare at Goats,” a reporter in Iraq played by Ewan McGregor is trying to distract himself from his marriage’s break-up. He meets a special-forces agent who reveals the existence of a secret, psychic military unit. R. 1 hour, 33 minutes.
An animated Scrooge
Disney’s animated version of the Charles Dickens’ classic, “A Christmas Carol,” colorfully tells the story of a miser who learns the error of his ways. This film is a scary holiday treat. PG. 1 hour, 36 minutes.
Homebodies
Upstairs, downstairs
The Pearson family tries to protect its vacation home from cosmic invaders in “Aliens in the Attic,” now on DVD. The humorous pint-sized aliens take over the attic, “program” the family and rule them via remote control. Game on. PG. 1 hour, 26 minutes.
You are what you eat
Michael Pollan, author of “The Omnivore’s Dilemma,” and Eric Schlosser, author of “Fast Food Nation,” team up in the documentary “Food, Inc.” They give viewers a sober and unflattering look at corporate food production. PG. 1 hour, 34 minutes.
