Drivers heading west on I-70, including plenty of weekend skiers, will be detoured for a short distance because of light rail construction.
All westbound lanes of the highway, between West 6th Avenue and West Colfax Avenue in Jefferson County, will close at 7 p.m. Friday and will re-open at 5:30 a.m. Monday, according to a media release from the Denver Transit Construction Group, RTD’s contractor on the FastTracks West Corridor.
The scheduled detour will be as follows:
Westbound at Colfax Avenue to 6th Avenue.
West on 6th Avenue to Johnson Road.
South at Johnson Road onto C-470 southbound.
Back to I-70 westbound.
Construction work is dependent on weather and subject to change.
