EUGENE, Ore. — Andy Ogide had 24 points and Colorado State made 14 3-pointers in its season-opening 91-73 victory against Cal-Davis in the BTI Tip-Off Tournament Friday.
Reserve forward Andre McFarland recorded career highs with 20 points and six 3-pointers — all in the first half. Dorian Green added 16 points for the Rams, who shot 56 percent from the field and made 14 of their 25 3-point attempts, which tied for the second-most 3-pointers made in school history.
The Rams trailed 24-18 early in the game but went on a 19-4 run to take a 37-28 lead with 3:13 to play in the first half.
Colorado 88, Arkansas- Pine Bluff 72
Cory Higgins hit all 16 free-throw attempts and scored 26 points to lead Colorado.
Alec Burks added 13 for Colorado (1-0), which is 13-1 in season openers since 1996. The Buffaloes were without coach Jeff Bzdelik, who was away to attend to an unspecified family emergency.
The Buffaloes didn’t allow their lead to slip to less than 20 points until 10:20 remained.
N. Iowa 71, Denver 65
Brian Stafford scored 20 points for DU, but the Pioneers were not able to track down the defending Missouri Valley Conference champions, although that did not dampen DU coach Joe Scott’s enthusiasm. “We wanted to play a team of this caliber because that’s the level we expect ourselves to be at,” Scott said. “We are going to get better and better.”

Clint Sargent scored 18 points as the Jackrabbits scores 13 unanswered points early and built a double-digit lead.
Air Force 65, Western St. 54
Grant Parker scored 26 points, and Evan Washington had 14 and eight rebounds as the host Falcons downed the Mountaineers.
Northern Colorado 101, McNeese State 73
Northern Colorado used a 20-1 second-half run to break away from McNeese State for a 101-73 win in the opening game of the Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic on Friday.
