Colorado respondents in Mercer’s 2009 National Survey of Employer-Sponsored Health Plans said total health benefit costs for active employees increased 10.7 percent in 2009, to an average of $10,146 per employee.

When asked about their 2010 costs, the 57 employers surveyed estimated that if they made no changes to their current plans, the costs would rise by 9.3 percent. The employers also said they expect to lower the cost increase to 6.8 percent by making changes to plans or vendors.
