ARLINGTON, Va. — The Capitals expect left wing Quintin Laing to miss up to six weeks with a broken jaw, while left wing Alexander Semin is questionable with a right wrist injury.

Laing was hurt during Tuesday’s victory over the Rangers. He had metal plates inserted into his jaw during surgery Wednesday. Semin missed Tuesday’s game and was wearing a brace on his wrist Wednesday.

Goaltender Jose Theodore was at practice after missing Tuesday’s game because of personal matters, but his status is uncertain for Friday’s game against Montreal.

Alex Ovechkin also practiced, showing no obvious effects from the injury that caused him to miss six games.

Penguins lose McKee

PITTSBURGH — Penguins defenseman Jay McKee has an infected finger that will keep him out two to four weeks.

The Penguins, already playing with three defensemen from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, might not have to recall another because Sergei Gonchar is expected to return from a broken left wrist tonight in Ottawa.

Forward Max Talbot, who scored both Penguins goals in a 2-1 victory over Detroit in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals, also could play tonight. Talbot had surgery in July to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
