A jury on Tuesday found David I. Hillman, 30, of Aurora guilty of money laundering and making false statements to federal officials.
The verdict came after a five-day jury trial before U.S. District Judge Philip Brimmer. The jury deliberated for 1 1/2 hours before reaching its verdict. Hillman is scheduled to be sentenced by Brimmer on Feb. 19.
According to the indictment and facts presented at the trial, Hillman conspired with an employee of Great-West Life and Annuity Insurance to embezzle and spend more than $700,000 in stolen funds.
