For the second straight year, Adams State rules Division II cross country as the Grizzlies’ men and women swept the team titles at the NCAA Championships.
The ASC men won the title with 23 points Saturday in Evansville, Ind., while the women recorded 73 points, eight better than runner-up Grand Valley State. It’s the seventh straight championship for the women, who’ve won 15 of the last 18. The Western State men finished second with 86 points, and Colorado Mines was third with 153.
ASC’s Reuben Mwei won the men’s individual title (30 minutes, 27 seconds).
Metro volleyball denied.
Metro State’s three-match winning streak against top-15 ranked teams came to an end in the NCAA Division II Central Region final as the Roadrunners lost to host and national No. 1- ranked Concordia-St. Paul 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-15). Amy Watanabe had 18 digs in her final match for the Roadrunners (26-8). Concordia-St. Paul improved to 34-0.
• The 25th-ranked Colorado State volleyball team got all it could handle in the regular-season finale at Moby Arena, edging UNLV 3-2 (24-26, 26-24, 25-27, 25-22, 15-12).
Outside hitter Danielle Minch had 22 kills, and middle blocker Megan Plourde had 18, career bests for both.
Former Grandview High standout Sara Nehf had a double-double for UNLV with 14 kills and 22 digs.
• Seniors Alexis Ninos and Emmy Davidsmeyer ended their college careers by leading Denver in kills with 12 and 10, respectively, as the No. 6-seeded Pioneers were eliminated from the Sun Belt Conference tournament in a quarterfinal match, losing to No. 3 seed and tourney host Western Kentucky (25-8, 13-4 SBC) 3-1 (25-23, 14-25, 21-25, 18-25). DU finished the season at 16-17, 11-7.

The time of the NCAA Division II quarterfinal between the Colorado Mines women’s soccer team and Grand Valley State in Saturday’s paper was incorrect. The game will start at 1 p.m. today.

Paul Weisgarber, Blake Page and Jacques Lamoureux scored in succession early in the second period to lead the Air Force hockey team (6-5-3, 6-1-3 Atlantic Hockey) to a 3-1 win over Connecticut (2-8-2, 2-5-2) in Storrs, Conn.
CC hockey completes sweep.
Bill Sweatt scored two goals and Andrew Hamburg added a goal and two assists as the Colorado College men’s hockey team beat Robert Morris 4-1, completing a two-game sweep.
