VCU 82, No. 17 Oklahoma 69: Jay Gavin scored 20 points, Larry Sanders chipped in 17 and Virginia Commonwealth never trailed in an upset of Oklahoma (1-2) on Saturday in Richmond, Va.
The victory spoiled the return of Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel, who used to coach the Rams.
Leading by one early on, the Rams (2-1) used a 20-8 spurt to take control of the game. VCU hit six straight 3-pointers during the run, including two by Gavin.
No. 4 Kentucky 92, Rider 63: Freshman John Wall had 21 points and 11 assists as Kentucky (4-0) dominated Rider (2-2) in Lexington, Ky.
No. 9 Duke 104, Radford 67: Freshman Andre Dawkins scored a season-high 20 points and Duke (4-0) matched a school record with 18 3-pointers in a romp over visiting Radford (2-1).
No. 11 Butler 64, Evansville 60: Shelvin Mack scored 17 points to help Butler (3-0) hold off host Evansville (2-1).
No. 19 Georgetown 63, Savannah St. 44: Jason Clark scored a career-high 14 points and four Hoyas finished in double figures for visiting Georgetown (3-0).
No. 20 Louisville 69, ETSU 56: Edgar Sosa scored 13 of his 16 points in the first half as host Louisville (2-0) beat East Tennessee State (1-3).
No. 23 Illinois 94, Presbyterian 48: D.J. Richardson scored 15 points, hitting four 3-pointers, to spark Illinois in the Las Vegas Invitational.

Nebraska 90, TCU 77: Host Nebraska (2-1) scored 90 points for the first time in more than three years under coach Doc Sadler.
Oklahoma State 82, North Texas 68: James Anderson scored 25 points to lead host Oklahoma State (3-0) over North Texas (2-1).
Texas Tech 77, Lamar 54: Nick Okorie scored 19 points and D’walyn Roberts had 15 as host Texas Tech (5-0) routed Lamar (2-2).
MOUNTAIN WEST MEN
Wyoming 87, Boise St. 61: Djibril Thiam scored 19 points as Wyoming (2-1) ran past Boise State (2-2) in Laramie.
New Mexico 81, Louisiana Tech 52: Darington Hobson scored a career-high 30 points to help power host New Mexico (4-0) to a victory over Louisiana Tech (2-1) in the Basketball Travelers World Vision Classic.
Utah 88, Southern 48: Marshall Henderson scored 13 as Utah (2-1) routed Southern (0-3). By halftime, Jordan Cyphers had three 3-pointers in matching his career high with 12 points and Utah led 52-17. Most of Utah starters played sparingly in the second half.
UNLV 78, Southern Illinois 69: Tre’Von Willis scored a career-high 25 points to lead host UNLV over Southern Illinois in the Mountain West Conference-Missouri Valley Conference Challenge.
AREA MEN
Idaho State 77, Colorado Christian 60: Senior guard Amorrow Morgan boosted Idaho State with 25 points, five rebounds and three assists as the Bengals (1-3) beat Colorado Christian (0-3) in Pocatello, Idaho.
Metro St. 82, S. Dakota Mines 51: Donte Nicholas scored a career-high 25 points to lead the 12th-ranked Roadrunners in their season opener. Mines dropped to 3-5.
Colorado Mines 91, Azusa Pacific 86: The host Orediggers shot 62.5 percent in the second half to beat the Cougars. CSM had four players in double figures, including Dale Minschwaner (19 points).
NATIONAL WOMEN
No. 7 LSU 72, Houston 54: Freshman reserve Adrienne Webb scored 17 points to lead LSU (3-0) over visiting Houston (3-1).
No. 9 Xavier 59, No. 14 Arizona St. 46: Freshman Katie Rutan made three consecutive 3s during a first-half run that put host Xavier (2-0) ahead to stay, and had a steal and layup that ended Arizona State’s (2-1) comeback.
BIG 12 WOMEN
No. 20 Oklahoma 74, TCU 70: Abi Olajuwon scored a career-high 23 points and Danielle Robinson added 16 as Oklahoma (2-1) edged the Horned Frogs (2-1) in Norman, Okla.
AREA WOMEN
Metro State 76, Univ. of the Southwest (N.M.) 46: Metro State (1-1) rebounded from its tough loss Friday night to 10th-ranked West Texas A&M with a rout, clobbering the Mustangs (2-4) at the Al Kaly Classic in Pueblo.
Kristin Valencia led Metro State with a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds.
