A 54-year-old Nederland man was sentenced Friday to six years to life in prison after pleading guilty to sexual assault on a child in a case that involves his friend’s 11-year-old son.
John Arthur Lovelace sexually assaulted the boy twice, in the September and October of last year.
Lovelace offered the boy crack cocaine and paid him $300 not to tell anyone about the assaults.
The single count Lovelace pleaded to also included a sexual assault on another friend’s then-12-year-old son in Boulder in 2001 and 2002, when he gave the boy marijuana and $100 not to tell, prosecutors said.
When released from prison, Lovelace must serve parole from 10 years to life and register as a sex offender.
