Thinking about the winless New Jersey Nets — 0-and-a-baker’s-dozen — conjures up the image of “The Natural,” when a quack hypnotist held a session with the New York Knights.
“Losing is a disease, as contagious as bubonic plague. But curable. Now, I want you to imagine you are on a ship at sea, gently rocking.”
The Nets haven’t won all season, but they will at some point, explains history, odds and the cosmos. Tonight, the Nuggets host New Jersey at Pepsi Center, and at today’s shootaround, Denver coach George Karl praised the Nets’ effort this season.
“From what I can tell, this team still has an energy to it, and confidence will come with (a healthy) Devin Harris on the court — I just hope it doesn’t come tonight.”
In Denver’s other game against New Jersey this season, rookie Ty Lawson played arguably his best game, scoring 23 points on 9-for-10 shooting, making three 3s.
It will be fun to watch the speedy guard Lawson matchup against the speedy Harris, who is back from a groin injury.
Karl said his team is banged-up, but every Nugget should be able to play tonight.
