Getting your player ready...

LINCOLN, Neb.—Nebraska coach Bo Pelini says the Cornhuskers won’t outsmart themselves as they devise a strategy to defend Texas quarterback Colt McCoy in the Big 12 championship game.

Asked after Monday’s practice whether the Huskers would need to install a sophisticated game plan to counter the Heisman Trophy contender, Pelini said he doesn’t understand why some people believe football is a complex game. He said his players just need to focus on tackling, executing their assignments and competing.

He said the Huskers will stick with the strategies that have gotten them this far and will “let it all hang out” on Saturday night at Cowboys Stadium Arlington, Texas.

The Huskers practiced in half pads for 90 minutes in the Hawks Championship Center.
