A winter blast out of Wyoming is working its way toward Denver and snow is likely tonight in the city.
By tomorrow, snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are expected along the I-25 corridor, the weather service reports, with 2 to 4 inches of new snow in the foothills and mountains.
Temperatures in Denver will reach only the mid-20s on Wednesday and Thursday, forecasters said. Temperatures are normally in the mid-40s for those dates, according to the weather service. The record for Dec. 2 is minus-17 set in 1911.
Snow should diminish by Wednesday night into Thursday, but cold weather will remain despite partly sunny skies on Friday, reaching only 30 degrees.
Overnight lows on Wednesday and Thursday in Denver should be in the upper single digits, with the weather service calling for a low temperature of nine degrees on both nights.
Temperatures may warm only into the middle or upper 30s this weekend, according to the forecast.
A chance of snow returns to the forecast for the Front Range on Saturday and Sunday.
