SALT LAKE CITY — Jazz forward Matt Harpring said his comeback attempt to play this season is over and his career might be as well.

The 11-year veteran never completely recovered from an infection that developed after ankle surgery in the summer of 2008.

“After consultations with the doctors and based on their recommendations, I have reluctantly come to the realization that my body can simply no longer withstand the rigors of NBA games and practices,” Harpring said Thursday.

Footnotes.

Timberwolves forward Kevin Love might play as soon as Saturday after missing the first 18 games of the season with a broken left hand.

• Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy told “60 Minutes” the mob threatened his family to ensure he provided his insider picks to inform betting on games.
