A memorial service for the Broomfield man killed Saturday in a fall from the rim of the Grand Canyon will be Friday morning, the family told the Broomfield Enterprise newspaper today.

Friends and family of 62-year-old B. Holt Vaughn will gather at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1250 Main St., where he was a member and volunteer.

A Vietnam veteran and retired social worker who helped veterans, Vaughn will be buried Friday at Fort Logan National Cemetery.

The National Park Service is still investigating the death, but no information was available on the status of the investigation Tuesday, said National Park Service spokeswoman.

Vaughn was visiting the park with family members when he fell about 400 feet from the South Rim at a viewing spot for tourists between Mather Point and Pipe Creek Vista near the national park entrance.
