MOSCA, Colo.—Authorities say a Colorado Springs woman whose body was found at the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve may have died of hypothermia.
Park rangers found the car of 27-year-old Kristin Weiss on Wednesday night, and searchers found her body about 250 yards away on Thursday morning. Alamosa County Sheriff Dave Stong says she had on a tank top, T-shirt and jeans but no coat or shoes.
Stong says there is no indication of foul play. He says there were some empty wine cooler cartons in her car but no empty bottles.
Stong says Weiss apparently had come to the sand dunes Monday and visited a convenience store in Mosca around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Investigators believe she was traveling alone.
