Like Charlie Chaplin and his Little Tramp, French director and actor Jacques Tati found an indelible character to take on the demands of modern times. “M. Hulot’s Holiday” follows the long-limbed, socially clumsy title character (Tati) to a seaside resort. Beginning today, you can see the 1953 classic in a restored 35mm print at the Starz FilmCenter ( or 303-820-FILM). The dialogue is sparse, but not the slapstick. Placing this gem on his “Great Movies” list, Roger Ebert called the jaunt a comedy of “fondness.” How perfect for a holiday season, even if Hulot’s respite takes place in August. Through Dec. 17.
