DENVER—A Denver jury has convicted a man of first-degree murder in the rape of a woman who later died after being left in an alley in frigid weather.

Forty-seven-year-old Willie Trimble also was convicted Friday of sexual assault of an at-risk adult in the attack on 61-year-old Judith Pyle in 2007. She died of complications from hypothermia after the attack.

Trimble’s attorney had argued that Pyle’s heart disease and diabetes killed her, not the attack.

Trimble faces life in prison without parole. His sentencing date is expected to be set next week when he appears in court in a separate case on kidnapping and sexual assault charges related to an attack on a woman in 1997.
