When the Colorado Mammoth starts its National Lacrosse League schedule Jan. 9, the team likely will be without veteran forward Dan Carey, who was put on the physically unable to perform list Monday.
Carey suffered a head injury during the summer while playing in another professional league. “Dan’s injury over the summer is extremely disappointing,” Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said.
Carey missed 11 games last season before returning for the Mammoth’s regular-season finale.
Carey has 76 goals in 48 games with Colorado, which plays a preseason game Friday at 8 p.m. at the Pepsi Center against the Minnesota Swarm.
Final D-II football poll includes Mines.
Colorado Mines received enough votes to finish 30th in the last Division II coaches poll of the football season, released Monday. Nebraska-Kearney was the only other Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference team ranked in the poll, at No. 8. Northwest Missouri State, the Division II national champion, was ranked No. 1.
