Muse adds to the trickle of show announcements from the newly christened Odeum venue, which officially opens March 5-6 with a pair of shows from Grateful Dead offshoot Furthur, featuring Phil Lesh and Bob Weir. The venue is getting a makeover from its former life as the Broomfield Event Center and, to our eyes and ears, holds great promise as another solid live-music spot for the area. Pat Metheny Orchestrion is the acclaimed jazz musician’s latest project, a high-concept mix of mechanical and electronic elements used to produce a virtual, one-man orchestra. Slightly confused? ($45-$65, TicketHorse) Killswitch Engage postponed its South American dates due to lead singer Howard Jones’ gall stone a couple of months ago, but the East Coast metal group has lately been at it again, touring the U.K. and Europe before an end-of-the-year rest. The band returns to Denver for a March 13 Fillmore Auditorium show with openers The Devil Wears Prada and Dark Tranquility. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($26-$29, ) The Big Pink, one of the 2009’s most acclaimed electro-rock acts, returns to Denver from the U.K. to play the Bluebird Theater on April 11 with A Place to Bury Strangers. The band started out as a sort of Interpol/Coldplay soundalike, but has lately distinguished itself with dark, addictive songwriting and rawer direction, borne out on new album, “In This Light and On This Evening.” Tickets are on sale.
