BOULDER, Colo.—A man who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the deaths of four people says the public was fooled into thinking he’d spend the rest of his life in prison.

Scott Kimball told the Camera for a story published Sunday that he expects to get out much sooner than the 70 years he was sentenced to in October.

Kimball pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of Jennifer Marcum, Kaysi McLeod, LeAnn Emry and his uncle, Terry Kimball. Kimball also says he didn’t act alone in killing the four who died during a 20-month period in 2003 and 2004.

Boulder District Attorney Stan Garnett says Kimball is making desperate claims and will likely die in prison. Kimball, 43, will be elgible for parole in 2048.
