FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Firefighters say a blaze at a sprawling house near Fort Collins was accidentally started by a gas log fireplace.
Two firefighters were injured battling the fire at the 14,000-square foot home near Douglas Lake Saturday afternoon. The home is under bank ownership and the home’s caretakers were not at the house at the time.
The fire was reported by an ice fisherman on the lake.
Part of the roof collapsed in the fire and one firefighter who was injured by falling debris was treated at the scene. Another firefighter was transported to the hospital because of a medical condition, and was later released and returned to duty later in the day.
