A motorist collided with an unoccupied Colorado State Patrol cruiser on the shoulder of U.S. 36 near Interstate 270 this afternoon.
The trooper had stopped along the eastbound lanes to assist another motorist and was outside of his vehicle at about 4:10 p.m., said Trooper David Hall, a spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol.
The driver of that vehicle, who has not been named, sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital. Hall did not immediately know the extent of those injuries.
The crash snarled traffic in the area during rush hour, Hall said.
