CHI CAGO — Delta Air Lines Inc. said Thursday that it cleared the final hurdle for its merger with Northwest Airlines.
The Federal Aviation Administration has granted final authorization to the airlines to fly under a single operating certificate, a Delta executive reported in a memo to employees.
The regulatory approval allows the airlines, which have already combined many activities, to use common technical manuals and organizational structure for all employees, chief operating officer Stephen Gorman wrote to employees.
