GREELEY, Colo.—A former University of Northern Colorado theater professor pleaded guilty Monday to sexual exploitation of children, following allegations that he secretly videotaped male students in his home bathroom.
Sentencing for Raymond “Vance” Fulkerson, 63, was set for March 3. A judge will consider a variety of factors that could mean a sentence that could range from probation to several years in prison.
Fulkerson was arrested in July after a student found a video camera inside a digital clock in the bathroom.
He resigned his tenured position in September after 18 years on the faculty.
An outside firm hired by the university to investigate allegations that UNC staff ignored repeated complaints about Fulkerson concluded that the school did not ignore the reports but did fail to inform people who had complained about whether any disciplinary action had been taken.
The investigation prompted the university to review guidelines for faculty offering private lessons to students, and standards addressing faculty-student interactions.
Fulkerson’s attorney Alexander Garlin said he would argue for probation.
