Gilcrest police said today they might have a lead in a weekend spree of window breaking in Weld County.

“We have a suspect vehicle, but we have to get some security video enhanced,” Gilcrest Police Sgt. Todd Duffey said this afternoon.

Investigators think a BB gun or air rifle was used to shatter dozens of windows in Gilcrest, La Salle and Milliken late Saturday or early Sunday.

All of the cars were parked and unoccupied when they were vandalized, police said.

During the same period, about two dozen cars and trucks in Evans were also hit with paintball gun, but authorities haven’t yet found evidence to link to the two vandalism sprees, investigators have said.

“My suspicion is that it’s teen-agers, but we don’t know for sure, yet” Duffey said.

Anyone with information can contact Gilcrest police at 970-737-2426, extension 103.
