WASHINGTON — The Department of Labor is awarding $100 million in grants to help retrain workers for green jobs involving renewable energy.
Labor Secretary Hilda Solis says the grants were part of the $787 billion economic stimulus approved last year and will help autoworkers and others hard hit by the recession.
In Colorado, a $3.6 million grant will go to Labor’s Community Action Inc. to provide training and certification opportunities in electrical, electrical power-line installation and repair, wind and energy auditing, and solar installation.
