DENVER—New hospitalizations for influenza in Colorado are below 20 for the fifth straight week.

State health officials said Wednesday that 12 hospitalizations were recorded last week. Late reports could push that number higher.

Two flu-related deaths were reported last week, bringing the total to 61 this season.

The state Department of Public Health and Environment says virtually all the influenza in Colorado this year has been swine flu, the H1N1 virus.

The seasonal flu usually doesn’t appear in Colorado until late January.

Flu cases have been declining in Colorado since the week of Oct. 11, when nearly 360 new hospitalizations were reported.

More than 2,000 hospitalizations for flu have been reported since monitoring started in late August.
