NEW YORK — An actor from the popular TV drama “One Tree Hill” will spend three months in prison for dealing in stolen Social Security numbers.
A Brooklyn judge this week ordered An twon Tanner to report to prison April 30. After his release, he’ll serve five months in home detention.
Tanner, known for his TV role as a high school basketball star-turned-coach, admitted selling more than a dozen Social Security numbers for $10,000 to an undercover agent.
He described the incident as “an embarrassment” to his family and fans. His lawyer blamed it on “stupidity,” saying Tanner suffered financial reversals and lost a $1 million house in California to foreclosure. The Associated Press
