OMAHA, Neb.—The wife of hockey great Motto McLean has been hospitalized in critical condition after being pulled from her burning home in Omaha.
The Omaha Fire Department says an 83-year-old woman was found in the basement of the burning house about 6:30 p.m. Saturday. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Neighbors identified the woman as McLean’s wife, Dorothy.
Firefighters say she was the only person there at the time. A dog was also taken from the house but did not survive.
Motto McLean played professionally in the Detroit Red Wings organization in the 1940s and ’50s. An ice rink in Omaha bears his name.
