AURORA, Colo.—An apparent drunk driver crashed through an Aurora crime scene and slammed into a police SUV before police could nab him.
The odd incident happened early Tuesday, when police were investigating a shooting in a shopping center parking lot. Police say that during the investigation, 24-year-old Jason Michael Cooper pulled into the parking lot, drove through yellow crime scene tape and then hit a marked police SUV.
Cooper allegedly sped out of the parking lot into a nearby neighborhood, then fled on foot. Police found him hiding behind a bush in someone’s yard.
Cooper was being held in the Arapahoe County Jail. Police say they don’t believe any evidence in the original investigation was compromised.
