ALMATY, Kazakhstan—An American business seminar leader says masked police with machine guns burst into their training session and briefly detained her and her work partner.
Beth Hollahan, a Denver native, on Friday was at a loss to explain Wednesday’s raid in the Kazakh business capital, Almaty. Hollahan says police denied her and Dennis Becker, of Portland, access to legal counsel.
Becker’s lawyer Nazgul Yergaliyeva said Becker was questioned by police Friday. She said her client has not been charged with any offenses but has had his passport confiscated pending investigations into unknown infractions.
The pair were conducting management training sessions on behalf of a Kazakh company.
