Colorado Mammoth forwards Cory Conway and Jamie Shewchuk each had three goals and three assists, and defenseman Tom Ethington scored the game-winning goal, an unassisted tally 3:42 into overtime, for a 15-14 win over the host Minnesota Swarm on Friday night. The Mammoth improved to 1-2.

Calhoun promotes assistants.

Air Force head coach Troy Calhoun has promoted Matt Wallerstedt to associate head coach and defensive coordinator, replacing Tim DeRuyter, who left for Texas A&M. Wallerstedt also will coach the inside linebackers.

Rapids trade for midfielders.

The Rapids traded for two midfielders from the New England Revolution — Jeff Larentowicz, who has nine goals and nine assists in 111 Major League Soccer games, and Wells Thompson, who has started 36 of 71 games and had two goals and three assists.

Colorado sent goalkeeper Preston Burpo, defender Cory Gibbs, allocation money and its natural third-round 2011 SuperDraft pick to New England.
