GREELEY — Devon Beitzel had four 3-pointers and 16 points as Northern Colorado dealt Sacramento State its 25th consecutive conference road loss in a 79-65 decision Friday night.

Will Figures added 13 points with two 3-pointers for the Bears (17-4, 6-2 Big Sky), who were 11-of-25 on 3-pointers and are off to their best start since opening 17-2 in 1967.

Northern Colorado is 8-0 at home and has won 12 consecutive home games, two short of the school record.

Justin Eller and Domineek Daniel scored 14 each for Sacramento State (7-13, 1-6). The Hornets last had a conference road win when they beat Northern Colorado 74-70 on Dec. 30, 2006.

The Bears went up 39-31 on five consecutive points by Yahosh Bonnor, but the Hornets got it down to 41-38 after a free throw by Duro Bjegovic early in the second half. Beitzel answered with a 3-pointer, and moments later Chris Kaba’s dunk made it 51-41.

Daniel had a layup to draw the Hornets back to 55-47 with 9:50 left. The Bears got two straight 3-pointers from Elliott Lloyd to forge a 64-49 lead. Montgomery sealed the win at 3:08 with a dunk.

UC-Colorado Springs 82, Regis 79 (OT)

COLORADO SPRINGS — Ben Feilmeier scored 12 points — one more than teammates Chris Fernandez, Cole Smith, Scott Sublousky and Alex Snyder — and hit the game- winning 3-pointer with seven seconds left in overtime for the Mountain Lions (6-10).

No. 14 North Carolina 79, Clemson 61

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Italee Lucas scored 20 points and the Tar Heels (15-3) closed the game on a 23-4 run to extend their winning streak against the Tigers to 15.

The Tigers (9-11) led 57-56 with seven minutes remaining in the game, but Cetera DeGraffenreid and Lucas scored eight points apiece down the stretch.
