DENVER—A panel that investigates attorney misconduct has dismissed a complaint filed by former state Sen. Andy McElhany’s against the former director of Colorado Ethics Watch.

McElhany filed a complaint against attorney Chantell Taylor after Ethics Watch asked Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey to investigate whether McElhany violated state law by using private donations to launch the Senate Minority Office Web site.

McElhany accused Taylor of misrepresenting facts in a legal case.

Colorado’s Attorney Regulation Counsel ruled Monday that Taylor did not violate any of the state’s rules on professional conduct because anyone can ask a district attorney’s office to file charges against someone.
