Count Dean Pees out of the running for the Broncos’ defensive coordinator job.
Pees, 60, was introduced as the new linebackers coach of the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday.
Broncos coach Josh McDan-iels had considered hiring Pees to run the Denver defense last week when McDaniels and Mike Nolan agreed that Nolan would not return as the team’s defensive coordinator in 2010. Pees had been New England’s defensive coordinator until this month. Nolan already has been hired as the Miami Dolphins’ defensive coordinator.
The Broncos are seriously considering promoting linebackers coach Don Martindale, 46, to defensive coordinator.
Martindale, who is popular with his players, joined the Broncos last year, coming from the Oakland Raiders. His last stint as a defensive coordinator was at Western Kentucky University in 2003.
