STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo.—A 26-year-old Routt County man is accused of throwing a drinking party for underage friends, one of whom is now in a coma after drinking and then falling off a deck.
The Routt County Sheriff’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for Ryan Atkinson. Authorities say a 17-year-old girl is in a coma after attending a party at Atkinson’s house Jan. 10.
Investigators say Atkinson gave alcohol to seven underage people, including the girl who fell about 18 feet off a deck. The injured girl remains in a coma and has not been named because of her age.
Sheriff’s Office investigator Ken Klinger says most of the minors at the party were girls.
