DENVER—Medical marijuana dispensaries attract crime—right? A Denver Police memo suggests otherwise.
In a memo reported Wednesday by The Denver Post, a Denver Police memo to city officials finds that even though pot shops have exploded across the city, they’re not necessarily inviting crime.
The memo points out that medical marijuana dispensaries last year were robbed or burglarized at a lower rate than liquor stores or even banks.
The analysis is welcome news for medical marijuana advocates who say it’s a myth that dispensaries are crime magnets.
