LOOOONG DAY LUMBERS TOWARD SLUMBER PARTY

“Please bring your sleeping bags, your teddy bears and your toothbrushes.”

House Majority Leader Paul Weissmann, D-Louisville, sounded the warning Thursday, letting lawmakers known they weren’t going to adjourn at noon as usual but instead would take up controversial tax-credit bills.

House Minority Leader Mike May of Parker told Republicans to bring their “Dick Wadhams-issued sleeping bags.”

Wadhams, the state GOP chairman, has been accused of telling Republican lawmakers how to vote.

Democratic Speaker Terrance Carroll, D-Denver, couldn’t resist.

“I thought it was a Dick Wadhams-issued Snuggie,” he said, to howls.

Great! Let’s make a T-shirt!

Speaking of Wadhams, he offered to host a “special reunion” after hearing that President Barack Obama is coming to Colorado in February to campaign for U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet.

The president came to Colorado a year ago to sign the stimulus bill. Joining him at the signing was Bennet, Gov. Bill Ritter and Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, now running for governor.

“Let’s get the whole gang together again . . . ,” Wadhams said.

Just ask Pancho Villa

“Revolutions are noisy.”
